37 Weeks!! Officially Full Term!!

Wednesday, June 17, 2009

WOW!!! We are officially full term!!! Emma turns 37 Weeks today and is officially now a Watermelon! Ha! I cannot believe that she will be here in three weeks! According to Dr. "P", I will not be pregnant on my due date so looks like she will be here before we know it!

I have been feeling "super pregnant" this week as Emma continues to get bigger and the belly continues to get tighter. I have been having contractions every now and then a couple times a day which is kind of interesting. I have also found my new best friend...low acid orange juice. I have been craving it like it is my job!! My feet are getting better though, they are still swollen and I am still stuck with flip flops but having something to prop my feet up under my desk has really been helping. Here is a recent belly picture from this morning!

How Is Emma Growing?

Emma is full term! This means that if she arrives now, her lungs should be fully mature and ready to adjust to life outside the womb, even though my due date is still three weeks away. Emma weighs about 6 1/3 pounds and measures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel (according to the website). Many babies have a full head of hair at birth, with locks from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inches long (we actually saw Emma's on her last sonogram)! But we shouldn't be surprised if your baby's hair isn't the same color as ours. Dark-haired couples are sometimes thrown for a loop when their children come out as blonds or redheads, and fair-haired couples have been surprised by Elvis look-alikes. And then, of course, some babies sport only peach fuzz.

Here are a few updated nursery pictures! We still have a few things to do, but you will get the idea! Enjoy!

Catching Up! Been A While!

Well, I have definitely been slacking on the blogging this week! It has been an interesting few weeks to say the least. Between working until all hours of the night, not feeling so good and just overall been completely exhausted, I haven't had much to blog about!

Emma did turn 36 weeks last week (almost 37 by this point) and I can really tell now how big she is getting. We had our doctors appointment on Friday and things are still looking good. Weight was good, belly size was good, Emma's position was good, heartbeat was good...so we are still right on track. It's now MUCH harder to get through the day, especially because sleeping has been so tough. I am definitely into the non-fun part of pregnancy at this point. :) I am having contractions here and there, especially when I am really tired. Up until last week, I was really lucky and haven't really had much swelling, but boy did that change! Wes and I went to a work event on Friday, and I had to sleep in half my jewelry because it was stuck on! I can no longer wear my engagement ring, or any kind of bracelet, or pretty much any shoes other then flip flops! But, I know that it will all be worth it in just a few short weeks and I think back to all those months where Wes and I were heartbroken because we weren't pregnant. So...its nothing that Mommy and Emma can't get through! Poor Daddy, sure has his hands full now!!

Check out Mommy's poor swollen feet...and this was in the morning after much of the swelling had gone down!

How Is Emma Growing?

Emma is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. She now weighs almost 6 pounds and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. She's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Emma swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of her first bowel movement.

At the end of this week, Emma will be considered full-term!!

Exactly One Month From My Due Date!!

Monday, June 8, 2009

Wow, it really hit home this morning when I got to work and realized that it was June 8th, exactly one month until my due date, July 8th! OMG!

I feel surprisingly calm though, at least today ha! Even though I am not ready to leave work yet and still have several things to do (and am crazy busy), and even though the nursery is still somewhat of a mess and needs several more things...I feel ready! I think it is because we have all the necessary things done and know that even if I went into labor tomorrow, Emma would most likely be born happy and healthy. When Dr. "P" told me to "make sure I have everything done I want to get done" it made it so real, that we are so close to meeting Emma! I can't wait!

Emma my love....Mommy and Daddy can't wait to meet you and start our brand new family!!
