The Big Announcement!

Tuesday, December 30, 2008

Well, as some of you may already know, Wes and I are expecting our first baby in July 2009!! So far, my Estimated Due Date (EDD) hasn't changed of July 8th, but stay tuned as each doctor's visit may change that (based on Baby O's growth). I will officially be 13 Weeks tomorrow and in just a few short days will be beginning the 2nd Trimester already!

Here's a little background...

On Friday, October 31st I decided to buy a few pregnancy tests just on a whim as I was a few days late but didn't think too much of it because it had happened many a months before (with negative test results which were heartbreaking). So, Wes and I sat down to enjoy a few evening cocktails and I remember saying to Wes in a joking manor..."I better take my time with this glass of wine since it may be the last one I'm allowed to have for a long time!" I certainly wasn't thinking that it was actually going to happen since we had gotten our hopes up so many times in the past two years, that we were convinced this time would be no different. So, after a relaxing evening, we went to bed not having any idea about what journey we would shortly begin...

We woke up pretty early on Saturday, November 1st (just a few days short of our third wedding anniversary) because of our little darling Shamus having to go outside. As Wes got on his shoes and got Shamus ready to go outside, I rolled over and thought "I think there was something I was going to do today." Then realizing what it was...I sprung out of bed and ran to take the test while Wes was out walking "The Mus". To my surprise, a second, dark, pink line was starring me in the face in no time!!! I immediately burst into tears trying to keep the noise down in order not to wake Adrienne and Kevin and the kids (we were staying with them in California at the time). I was in complete shock!! It seemed like forever until Wes returned, even though it was only about 30 seconds and as soon as he walked in the house, I ran out hysterical waving the stick in the air like a mad woman yelling "There are two! There are two!" Wes appropriately responds with "Two what?" Haha! We both ran back into our bedroom where I showed him the test and I will never forget the look on his face when he realized what it meant for us and for our new family. Seems like it has been a blur ever since!

We are so unbelievably excited that it is hard to put into words.
