Weekly Update - 27 Weeks!

Wednesday, April 8, 2009

You would think that I would be getting used to the idea of being one more week pregnant every Wednesday, but for some reason, I am shocked every time I write these posts! I still can't believe how fast time is flying by! Of course, I am sure it is about to slow down to a crawl really soon haha. I am 27 Weeks today, so Happy 27 Week Birthday little peanut! She is still about the size of an eggplant until Week 29 when the next fruit/vegetable will be revealed!!! Ha!

Overall I have been feeling pretty good lately. Although, for the first time today, my feet hurt pretty much immediately after getting out of bed, which is not a good sign for the day. I have started to feel some more aches and pains lately, nothing bad, just new sore spots like my tail bone and lower back. So far I haven't noticed a lot of swelling, but I am sure it is on its way! Things are coming along as we are continuing to work on the nursery and our list of things to do (which just seems to grow by the day and not get any smaller). Here is another belly picture from this morning. Please disregard the bad look on the face as I had class last night, so getting out of bed this morning was pretty tough haha.

How Is Baby Growing?

This week, Baby O weighs almost 2 pounds and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, her brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements I may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on (although I don't think I have felt these yet). Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother her, so I am supposed to just relax and enjoy the tickle. Haha.
